Check whether a server has a valid cPanel & WHM licence in seconds. Enter the server IP address below to see the licence status, the licence provider, the package and the full licence history for that IP.
How to use the cPanel licence checker
- Enter your server’s public IPv4 address (for example
203.0.113.10) or its hostname. - Click Check Licence.
- Read the result. A green tick means cPanel has an active cPanel & WHM licence on record for that IP, along with the provider who issued it.
- Open Licence history to see older licences that were attached to the same IP in the past.
Tip: You can share a result by copying the page address after a check. It includes the IP, for example
procpanel.in/cpanel-license-checker/?ip=203.0.113.10.
What the results mean
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Status: Active | The licence is currently valid and cPanel & WHM should work normally on that IP. |
| Status: Inactive | A licence record exists but is not valid. The server may show “License File Expired” or “Invalid License”. |
| Product | The software licensed: cPanel/WHM, CloudLinux, KernelCare, JetBackup, WHMCS and others. |
| Package | The licence type, such as a Solo, Admin, Pro, Premier or cloud/VPS package. |
| Licence provider | The company that issued the licence: cPanel directly, or a partner such as your hosting or data centre provider. |
| Trial | The licence is a free trial and will expire unless it is converted to a paid licence. |
| Licence history | Licences that used to be on this IP and have since ended. |
How to find your server’s IP address
- In WHM: the server’s main IP appears under Server Configuration → Basic WebHost Manager Setup, and in IP Functions → Show IP Address Usage.
- In cPanel: look at Shared IP Address in the General Information panel on the right side of the dashboard.
- Over SSH: run
curl -L https://cpanel.net/myip. This prints the public IP that cPanel’s licence servers see.
Fixing an “Invalid cPanel License” error
If the checker shows an active licence but your server still complains, the server usually just needs to refresh its licence file. Log in to the server as root over SSH and run:
/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
If that does not help, check these common causes:
- Wrong IP. The licence must be on the server’s public outbound IP. Servers behind NAT often send traffic from a different IP than you expect.
- Firewall blocking licence servers. The server must be able to reach cPanel’s licence servers over HTTPS (port 443).
- Licence expired or cancelled. If the checker shows no active licence, contact the provider who sold it to you.
- Recent IP change. After moving the server to a new IP, the licence must be transferred to the new IP by your provider.
Frequently asked questions
Is this cPanel licence checker free?
Yes. It is free to use, and you do not need to sign up. It reads public information from cPanel’s own licence verification service.
Can I check a licence using a domain name?
You can enter a server hostname such as server.example.com and the service will resolve it to an IP. If the website sits behind a CDN or proxy, the IP will belong to the proxy, so it is better to check the server’s real IP.
Does it show when the licence expires?
Most cPanel licences renew monthly or yearly through the provider, so cPanel’s public record usually shows the expiry as unknown. For your exact renewal date, check with the company that issued the licence.
Why does my IP show CloudLinux or KernelCare licences?
cPanel also issues licences for add-on products. The checker lists every product licensed to the IP, not only cPanel & WHM.
Is ProCPanel connected to cPanel, L.L.C.?
No. ProCPanel is an independent site. This tool only displays the publicly available results from cPanel’s verification service and stores nothing.
